Shaniqua Crump
Artist Statement:
I should start this statement off by giving some background information about myself, so here goes....
My name is Shaniqua Crump, I'm an African-America and 17 year of age. I live in Milwaukee, WI on the southern end. I attend Ronald Wilson Reagan College Prep High School. This is an international baccalaureate high school. I entered this school with all the intentions that I will do my best and I am doing just that. Reagan has taught me a lot and I am thankful for that. I am fluent in American Sign Language and English. I expressed myself though poetry because I thought that it was a way to say how I feel without saying it, if you understand. I am not the typical kid that one can openly understand, so I guess one can say that I'm difficult.
Now going into Reagan....
Once I attended Reagan I thought that I would be put into music, but of course as one can see I wasn't. Art is what they seen fit for so, here I am. I have grown to love art because just like poetry it's a way to express myself without speaking. I was a very emotional artist, by that I mean if someone said something bad about my work I would be very broken up about it. Now I can care less what people think, unless it's information that is really set out to help me.
And Inspirations....
Some of my inspirations came from Reagan, one of which is my art teacher Mr. Chad he showed me that no matter what any one can learn and became an artist. He...he was very patient with me, and I learned step by step with his help.Going into Jr. Year the IWB came along and at first I didn't like the fact that we had to have an inspirational artist to go with every work, but because of that I learned more and more. some of these artist were people such as Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, and so many more.
I have learn that so much comes with the learning of art, I have found myself...Yeah I have found myself!
